Persian Tiles Crochet

Since I purchased the original Persian Tiles pattern by Janie Crow from Black Sheep Wools several years ago I have made five of these fascinating blankets. I love the intricacies of the stitches and the finished result is stunning. I’ve done the original three colourways and two of my own design. I won’t lie, the first blanket was a bit of a challenge and I only threw it across the room once when I stitched part of it together in the wrong order. The more I make and the easier they become…

Persian Tiles

I loved the bright reds and vibrant oranges against the dark midnight blue background and as this was my first attempt I think it will always be my favourite!

Eastern Jewels

This was a pretty pattern of colours to follow and as each octagon, square and triangle were different it made the project all the more interesting to follow. It’s bright and cheery and reminds me a hot summer day.

Marrakesh

I saw Marrakesh on Janie’s website and knew that I had to make this bright blue blanket with its stunning array of colours which really pop. Orange, gold and reds vie for supremacy but together they form a rich tapestry of colours.

Over the winter months I’m planning on making another Persian Tiles blanket, this time using wool I bought for another CAL project but which in the end I decided not to make. I’ve got lots of lovely squishy Hayfield Bonus DK just waiting to be made into something lovely.

Welcome to the The Stitch Palette 🧶

I started blogging about knitting several years ago on my blog ittybittyknits but haven’t been active in there for a long time !  I seem to focus more on crochet hence my new blog The Stitch Palette is born where I will be sharing my crochet projects both past and present.

For once my WIP basket is empty and my hooks are quiet so that means I’m planning a new project using Scheepjies whirl in the colour way Popin Candy (762). I’ve used this amazing yarn before and am always impressed with the amount of yarn - a whopping 1000 metres - on each whirl.

I am a huge fan of combining colour with texture so I can’t wait to get started on a new project. Watch this space 🧶

I’ve made a couple of Virus shawls using Sheepjies whirls in Blueberry Bambam and Jumpin Jaffa Pop both are visually stunning.

Both whirls purchased from Black Sheep Wools which is one of my favourite yarn shops in the north west.
